Study destination: Croatia
MBBS in Croatia is one of Europe's most compelling value propositions for medical education, a full EU member state since 2013, offering completely English-medium 6-year MBBS programmes at three established medical schools (University of Zagreb, University of Rijeka, and University of Split), at a total cost that is a fraction of what the UK, Ireland, or the Netherlands charges for comparable EU-recognised training. The University of Zagreb School of Medicine is Croatia's oldest and most prestigious medical institution, established in 1917 and now counting nearly 1,800 students. Croatia's medical education system follows EU and Bologna Process standards, meaning the degree is recognised across all EU/EEA member states, the UK, the USA, and India (via FMGE/NExT). For Indian students seeking a genuinely EU-standard, fully English-medium, 6-year medical degree without a language barrier and at a total cost of âš55â85 lakhs, Croatia represents one of the most undervalued opportunities on AMW's entire MBBS abroad roster. You've survived NEET. Now, let's find out which medical colleges are actually within your reach with the AMW College predictor tool.

Croatia joined the European Union in 2013, and its medical degrees are fully Bologna Process compliant. A critical differentiator from non-EU destinations such as Russia, Georgia, and the Philippines, where degree recognition and FMGE outcomes vary significantly.
Unlike Belgium and the Netherlands, Croatian medical schools at Zagreb, Rijeka, and Split teach the entire 6-year programme in English, including clinical rotations and hospital training. No Croatian language proficiency certificate is required. The entrance examination itself is in English.
Croatia's Doctor of Medicine programme spans 6 years of continuous integrated study combining preclinical sciences (Years 1â3) with clinical rotations and hospital training (Years 4â6). The degree meets NMC's minimum duration requirements for recognition in India.
