As of now, the University of Enna "Kore" is Sicily's newest college. In 2004, the regional government set it up, and in 2005, it was fully recognized as an official Italian university. It is in the hill town of Enna, which is in the middle of Sicily and about 930 meters above sea level. The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery is one of the newest parts of the university. It takes six years to get a degree in Medicine and Surgery.

First, you should know the structural point. Kore is a university that is not run by the government, but it is recognized by the Italian government. "Università non statale legalmente riconosciuta" is a type of school that can exist in Italy. It is privately run, but its degrees have the same legal value as those from a state university. That's where Kore fits in. You will notice the change in money. Universities that are not run by the government set their own tuition rates instead of using the state's table based on income. Italian is used to teach the Medicine and Surgery courses. Kore does not offer a medical degree in English. You have to show that you can speak Italian at a B2 level, and you have to take the national test in Italian. It's very different to live in Enna than in Catania or Palermo. About 25,000 people live in the town. An older faculty is better if you want to join a big, well-known study group around the world. Kore is a good place to study if you want to focus on teaching, have easy access to staff, and be in small groups.

The academic structure is based on the national medical curriculum framework set by the Ministry of University and Research. This means that the order of the subjects is the same as at other Italian faculties. Two years of preclinical science, one year of pathology and pharmacology to help students move on, and then three years of clinical work. There are requirements for attendance, usually 70 percent of the scheduled teaching time per course. The tests have both written and spoken parts, and the pass mark is 18. The tests are rated out of 30. Your last grade for the degree is 110.

The valuated practical job, or tirocinio pratico valutativo, is part of the sixth year. Italy combined the old separate licensing test with this internship. After finishing it and graduating, you can then sign up with the Ordine dei Medici. You won't have to do the extra step that graduates in many other countries do.

On paper, the picture of recognition for international graduates is clear. The degree is fully recognized by the law in Italy and is also recognized automatically across the EU and EEA for EU citizens. If you are an Indian citizen, the National Medical Commission is on your way home. You need to have passed the NEET exam before you started, your degree must fit the format of 54 months of classes plus 12 months of internships, and you must also pass the Indian screening exam.
